Problem:
The presence of aluminum, copper and other nonferrous metals in the shredded auto scrap produced by Penn Iron and Metal Co. Erie, PA, USA (now
Liberty Iron & Metal) lowered the price they could charge for the finished ferrous scrap.
Solution:
The company installed an
Eriez Agitating Scrap Drum which dramatically upgraded the finished product by separating the ferrous from the nonferrous scrap. A local steel company contracted for all of the ferrous scrap that could be produced -- at a good price.
